The Tennyson Street Cultural District (TSCD) is known as the “Main Street” of Northwest Denver’s Berkeley neighborhood. This historic area is one of Denver’s premier art, culture and dining destinations featuring galleries, artists’ studios, award-winning restaurants, boutiques and retail stores.

The TSCD boasts a rich history beginning in the 1870‘s as one of the most popular streetcar corridors in the area. This laid the groundwork for the neighborhood to become the center for culture throughout the state of Colorado with the opening of the Historic Elitch Theatre in 1891. Becoming home to the oldest summer stock theatre in America, the Elitch Theatre hosted the screening of Colorado’s first moving picture in 1905. Due to the theatre’s location and proximity to the Trolley lines - the neighborhood quickly boasted other performing arts, outdoor recreations such as gardens and lakes, and became the playground for the area’s residents.

It seems we have been included in a Proclamation made by the City and County of Denver, Colorado (Proclamation CP12-0070). The City and County of Denver is officially supporting our application for the Creative District Designation by the State of Colorado! Awesome

That the Council of the City and County of Denver strongly endorses the following lead applicants for Denver entities seeking Creative District certification by the State of Colorado.

Be sure to stay tuned on the TSCD's application process and attend the Kick Off Event on Sunday, February 26th at the Oreiental Theater.
